Curaçao's Shete Boka National Park

Shete Boka National Park is adjacent to Curaçao's other national park (Christoffel National Park), so we visited Shete Boka National Park immediately after visiting Christoffel National Park on one of the days of our week in Curaçao.

A paper map can be purchased in addition to the entry fee for Shete Boka National Park.

We drove to each of the four best-advertised lookout parking areas rather than hiking between them. Although Boka Tabla's parking area is located near the entrance to Shete Boka National Park, we decided to see Boka Pistol first and then make our way east to west from there to see the other major pocket bays (bokas).

Boka Pistol is impressive even from its parking area, but is far more impressive from the observation deck that is a relatively short walk from the parking area.

We spent the most time watching (not walking) Boka Pistol because it was very difficult to tear ourselves away from the violently beautiful natural attraction.

When we were finally be to separate ourselves from Boka Pistol, we made the short drive to the parking area for Boka Kalki.

It's a relatively short and pretty walk from its parking area to Bolka Kalki.

We visited Boka Tabla next.

The relatively short walk to Boka Tabla from its parking area (which is near the park's main entrance) is interesting geologically.

A unique feature of Boka Tabla is the cavern that allows one to sit down near the crashing surf (as long as one doesn't mind getting wet!).

Along the way to the cavern at Boka Tabla, there are stone stairs that lead to a path that a takes you higher for a different coastal view.

Boka Wandomi was the fourth boka that we drove to. The view from the Boka Wandomi parking area is impressive even without really being able to see the natural arch from that parking area.

To see the natural arch, you must go down the stone stairs near the parking area, walk across the lower level bottom to stone stairs to ascend on the other side.

You cannot walk on the natural bridge, but you can get close to it on the wood observation deck that is reached by stairs.

When we were trying to leave the park, a large iguana stood in the way and tried to face us down.

After a stand-off, the iguana decided we could pass.

There were several interesting things to see at Shete Boka National Park that were relatively quickly and easily experienced.
