We stayed at Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites for our seven nights in Curaçao.
Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites offers attractive features:
- Views of the ocean.
- Proximity (walkable for most people) to Queen Emma Bridge, Handelskade, and surrounding area.
- Located in trendy Pietermaai district of Willemstad and featured on numerous blogs about most "Instagrammable" (photogenic) spots in Curaçao.
- A photograph of Scuba Lodge is even featured in the "The 5 Most Insta-Worthy Places Around Willemstad" page and its "What To Do in Pietermaai?" link.
- "Curaçao Away from the Crowds: A Day Trip to the Pietermaai District" features a photograph of Scuba Lodge & Suites prominently at the top.
- "Best Curacao photo spots for Instagram (with directions)" features photographs of Scuba Lodge in its "Pietermaai District" section.
- Second (only after Queen Emma Bridge) in "The Most Instagrammable Spots in Curaçao"
- Featured in "The 5 Most Insta-Worthy Places Around Willemstad Curaçao"
- Relatively small size: 28 rooms and 11 apartments
- Opportunity to stay the night in a UNESCO-listed area.
- On-site restaurant De Heeren @Sea
One of the small things we really liked about Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites was the ability to borrow towels to take with us while visiting beaches and other water-related activities in Curaçao and trade them for fresh towels at the end of the day.
The colorful buildings of Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites caught the attention of people passing by who weren't even staying there.
For example, The Royal Tour writes in "The Ultimate Guide to Curacao!", "Should I return for a shorter stay that allows me to afford a hotel, the Scuba Lodge looked amazing every time I passed by, and it might be my spot!"
We were too busy trying to see as much as Curaçao as possible to enjoy the two inviting swimming pools at Scuba Lodge & Suites.
We stayed in "Executive Mansion 27," a "Luxury Cityview room with kitchenette" with a refreshing rain shower.
Our room also had a balcony with views of Pietermaai and Queen Juliana Bridge.
For light sleepers who want to sleep in until late morning, the city view room is probably not desirable because sounds from the street will be heard in the morning. This worked out okay for us because we wanted to get "out and about" early each day.
The on-site restaurant De Heeren @Sea is very convenient and we ate dinner there twice because we enjoyed the food and convenience.
The sunset view from De Heeren @Sea is pretty nice too (reservations for table with sunset view highly recommended).
The only downside we encountered with Scuba Lodge & Ocean Suites is that the parking is street parking and there were a couple nights (especially on weekends) when finding a parking spot in the hopping Pietermaai district was a bit challenging. That's the price to be paid for such a fantastic location. It's free street parking and a close spot can usually be found with careful attention.
Scuba Lodge & Suites worked out perfectly for us. It was spacious, comfortable, relatively quiet, and the location was fantastic. We were sorry when we have to leave Scuba Lodge & Suites and Curaçao!
The article "Central America and the Caribbean: 4 overlooked cities (really) worth exploring" features a photograph of Scuba Lodge in listing Willemstad as one of four "overlooked cities."
