One of our day trips while we were staying in Thessaloniki was to Edessa (Eδεσσα) and its fabulous waterfalls.
The drive between Thessaloniki and Edessa takes approximately 90 minutes.
The falls are a major attraction in Edessa and the falls are featured in the very nice Edessa Waterfalls Park that mixes attractive buildings with natural scenery.
There's a small Greek Orthodox church called Ιερός Ναός Αναλήψεως.
There are some nice views from this elevated position as well.
Of course, the waterfalls are the highlight and we spent most of our time looking at a large one that is easily accessible.
Walking behind the falls provides an interesting perspective.
You can also go down a path to get a view from the base of the main waterfall.
There's more than one waterfall at Edessa and a good way to see these is via the YouTube video.
Before leaving Edessa to visit Pella, we were able to enjoy a nice Greek lunch at the welcoming Katarraktes Waterfalls Cafe Bar Restaurant.
Edessa is a charming town and the Edessa Waterfalls Park is well worth the visit.
