A nice short side trip that we discovered during our recent southwest Colorado road trip is Ridgway State Park's Overlook Point trail (Visitor Center Overlook). We saw signs for it on the way from Montrose to Ouray and decided to check it out.
The trail starts south of the Ridgway State Park Visitor Center, which is outside of the Entrance Station.
The trail is wheelchair accessible and slopes downward gradually to the overlook. It's a short, easy walk.
There is a huge payoff for this easy walk.
The view here is of Ridgway Reservoir in front of the San Juan Mountains.
