After staying the night in Silverton and having a memorable breakfast at Silverton's Inn of the Rockies at Historic Alma House, we decided to participate in the Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour before leaving Silverton.
There are some beautiful views from outside the mine.
There is a "vintage electric powered mine train" that transport passengers into the One Hundred Gold Mine.
As the train takes its passengers into the mine, water seeps from the ceiling and large drops of water drip on the passengers underneath it.
The train stops inside the mine after a short trip.
After disembarking the train cars, there are short walks to different well-lit caverns to see different features of the mine and to see different equipment the miners used.
The tour also featured stories of various sometimes brave and sometimes seemingly crazy antics of miners and other workers as well as some humorous tales, some of which were pretty tall.
The train then takes passengers back out of mine into the bright and warmer (at least on the day we were there) sunlight.
It was an interesting tour and we glad we took the time to do it before leaving Silverton.
