We didn't have enough time in our less than a week in Puerto Rico to check out a couple attractions that looked interesting in the Cabo Rojo area for more than a few minutes each. The attractions themselves were closed anyway, so a few minutes each was sufficient for this initial trip.
Cabo Rojo Lighthouse: Faro Los Morrillos de Cabo Rojo
We were happy to have a Jeep to ride the last couple miles on the uneven dirt road to the parking area below the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to walk all the way up to the lighthouse to see the advertised beautiful views from there.
Cabo Rojo Pink Salt Flats / "Las Salinas"
We could not see any way to get closer to the pink pools and pink salt flats and everything seemed to be closed the morning we were there. We were able to see the pink pools from the road and this photograph was taken from the other side of the road.
By the way, if you put "Cabo Rojo Salt Flats" in your GPS, it might lead you to this instead:
The pink pools and salt flats were somewhat subdued in color the morning we were there, though there was a definite pink tint. I expect that it would work out better on different days with different lighting and with better access to the pools and flats themselves.
