We went to Trafalgar Falls after our whale tour out of Roseau and before seeing the relatively close natural attractions of Emerald Pool, Spanny Falls, and Jacko Falls.
Trafalgar Falls enjoyes the #1 position on the U.S. News & World Report's "9 Best Things To Do in Dominica."
Trafalgar Falls has one of the larger parking lots we saw at Dominica attractions, but there were only two people working at the station when we arrived, one taking money and one providing directions to the beginning of the trail.
We purchased the week pass ($12 US each) here because it was the first site we visited that takes that pass.
The hike to Trafalgar Falls is a short one surrounding by lush green vegetation.
The hike to Trafalgar Falls is short and generally easy, but there are some stairs.
The only people we saw on our entire hike to and from Trafalgar Falls and during our time at Trafalgar Falls was a couple with a guide we saw when we had almost reached the viewing platform that they had apparently just left.
We could not believe that we had one of Dominica's most popular attractions to ourselves!
The waterfall on the left (and shown immediately above) is "Papa Falls." The waterfall on the right (and shown immediately below) is "Mama Falls."
Here are some more photographs of these gorgeous and popular falls.
We had intentionally chosen a day to visit Trafalgar Falls when there was no cruise ship in port and it paid off for us. A couple days later, we accidentally came upon Trafalgar Falls again while trying to find Titou Gorge and there were several white vans in the parking lot with cruise ship passengers. There were also more employees at the station in anticipation of these cruise ship passengers and the information area that was closed two days earlier was now open.
We sat and looked at these gorgeous surroundings that we had completely to ourselves for quite a while and it was then that we knew for certain that the hassles of getting to Dominica were worth it.
